A small, family farm in Wisconsin

The last few days….

…..have been busy.  We said good-bye to Meredith, who left with her fiancée Jim, to live in Texas.  They’ll be back in November, to get married.  Meredith is a lovely, sweet girl and we’re going to miss her so much.  We wish her all the best.

Our little Alora celebrated her 16th birthday on the 8th.   She’s an amazing young woman.  I think that I’m most proud of how she relates to other people.  She’s so kind, making everyone feel comfortable and at ease with her.  I believe that she’ll put that gift to good use and do something wonderful with her life.

This is an older picture of some of the grands.  Good kids!

It’s been in the 40’s here, and our large volume of snow is melting.  It’s seriously muddy.  If you don’t live in the frozen tundra, you might not know that the ground freezes hard over winter.  In spring, because the ground is still frozen, the water has no place to go.  It can’t soak in to the ground.  So it sits on top in ponds and puddles and makes copious amounts of mud.  Once the ground thaws, the water is  finally absorbed into the ground.  The puddles and ponds disappear, and the mud dries up.  Yay.

My final thoughts for this post concern our (once again) empty rental house and the people who answer the ad.  We’re animal lovers.  We love our dog Charlie, our barn kitties, our mini horses, the cute little lambies and even the big ugly pigs.  We’ve made the decision to refuse to allow pets in the rental house.  Yesterday Lee  picked up many large piles of mushy spring dog poop, left behind by our previous tenants.  Every tenant we’ve had here has had either a cat or dog or both, and none of them has left us unscathed.  So we’re done.  Our ad says NO PETS.  Nearly every call we’ve had on the place has started with “I know your ad says no pets, but…..”  What the heck is wrong with people?  Why do they answer an ad that says no pets in the first place.  And then, why do they try to convince me that their pet is a perfect angel.  I say “no”, but they won’t give up.  They argue with me.   I’m over it.  Don’t answer my ad if you have a pet.  NO PETS!

  1. I loved your comments about Alora. She’s a terrific young lady. Happy Sweet 16.

I bet you’d rent to me after you met Scram.
